The 2024 list of "Guangdong's Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises" is out, with 16 lighting companies included
Recently, the Guangdong Manufacturing Association released the "2024 Guangdong Province Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises" list, with several well-known companies from South Guangdong making the list. According to reports, the ranking was jointly conducted by the Guangdong Manufacturing Association, the Guangdong Academy of Development and Reform, and the Industry Economics Research Institute of Jinan University. It was compiled through recommendations from local government departments, business associations, and companies, as well as a public data collection and verification process. The list was finalized based on the qualifying criteria and international evaluation standards, after being reviewed by an expert committee.
Notably, 16 LED lighting-related companies have made it onto the list, representing various hot sub-sectors such as home lighting, commercial lighting, automotive lighting, film and television lighting, industrial lighting, stage lighting, cultural tourism and landscape lighting, as well as LED displays and projections. These 16 companies come from five cities in the Pearl River Delta and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, namely Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Huizhou, and Dongguan. Among them, Shenzhen is home to the most companies, with eight in total, highlighting the city's role as a strong manufacturing hub for the LED lighting industry, not only in Guangdong but also across China.
From the perspective of the industry chain, among the 16 LED lighting companies on the list, 9 are downstream enterprises primarily engaged in the manufacturing of lighting fixtures and LED displays, accounting for approximately 56.25% of the total. This number surpasses that of midstream and upstream companies, which focus on the manufacturing of light sources, drivers, components, and raw materials. This indicates that having "core product technology influence" is no longer the sole criterion for LED lighting companies to make it onto authoritative manufacturing industry rankings.
From the perspective of capital strength, among the 16 LED lighting companies on the list, 10 are listed companies, accounting for 60% of the total. This demonstrates that strong capital strength and manufacturing capability go hand in hand. Robust manufacturing strength provides the necessary momentum for the accumulation of capital, while accumulated capital offers strong support for the establishment of manufacturing capabilities.
What’s even more noteworthy is that, considering the current technological transformation and development trends, digitalization has become an important "bonus factor" for the LED lighting companies on the list. Taking Foshan Lighting as an example, this company not only developed the "1+3+N" Foshan Lighting IoT platform in product manufacturing, which integrates lighting, sensing, control, IoT, and AI to provide a comprehensive smart lighting solution, but also focuses on the "Tech Foshan" brand strategy. It is accelerating the upgrade of its production line to "mid-to-high-end smart manufacturing," promoting the development of the industry towards higher-end, smarter, and greener directions, thus empowering and contributing to the high-quality development of Guangdong's manufacturing industry.
In addition, some of the LED lighting companies on the list also demonstrate their strong cross-sector capabilities in trending businesses.In the era where "Made in China" products are found worldwide, the inclusion of 16 Guangdong LED lighting companies on the list not only showcases the technological innovation vitality of the LED lighting industry in Southern China but also identifies "high-quality products" to help the Chinese LED/lighting industry expand into global markets. This contributes to the ongoing empowerment of China's goal of becoming a global leader in lighting.
